Alternating sand stom picture

Start by opening an image.

For more realistic desert look, we will now change the image colors. Press control+B or go to image>adjustments>color balance and apply these values.

Image after balancing colors :-

Now, go to filter>blur>gussian blur and set the amount to 2.2

Create a new layer by pressing shift+control+n.

Select $ECA76A as foreground and white as background. Fill the layer with linear gradient tool.

Change its blending mode to 'Lighten'. Reduce its opacity to 86%. ***** DONE *******

Compare the final results.
