Creating fancy "Color to Black&White smooth gradation" effect |

Start by opening an image of a landscape with bright colors.

Duplicate the layer and press Ctrl+Shift+U to desaturate.
|
|
|
Click layer mask button from the bottom of the layer palette. Apply a black to white gradient to create a smooth blend.
|
|
|
Duplicate the layer. From filter menu select sketch>>photocopy. Apply settings as shown.

|
|
Click layer mask button from the bottom of the layer palette. Apply a black to white gradient to create a smooth blend.
|
|
|
Select and merge all the layers. Duplicate the layer and change the layer mode to vivid light.
