Creating frills and patterns on a plain dress

Start by opening an image of a model with plain dress.

Create selection of the dress using polygon lasso tool. Press Ctrl+J to copy paste the selection in a new layer.

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Enable pattern overlay.

Change the blend mode to darken in pattern overlay toggle.
